Pochampally is a small village in Telangana that put India on the global weaving map. What makes Ikat unlike anything else — the threads are dyed before they're woven. Weavers tie and resist-dye the yarn in precise patterns, then align them on the loom so the diamond motifs emerge as they weave. Those slightly feathered, blurred edges aren't a mistake — they're the signature of a human hand. UNESCO has recognised Pochampally Ikat as a craft worth protecting.

Because the colour lives inside the thread and not on top of it, it won't crack, peel, or fade the way printed fabric does. Red is one of the hardest colours to hold in lesser fabrics — here it stays rich because it was dyed at the source. Every wash softens the hand while the pattern stays completely intact.

Red this confident needs nothing competing with it. The ivory tones it down just enough to make it wearable anywhere — not costume, not costume-y. The photo gets it right: cream or off-white trousers are the move. Also works with dark denim if you want something edgier. One strong colour, everything else quiet.

Cold machine wash or gentle hand wash. Wash separately for the first two washes to be safe with the red. Air dry in shade — keeps the colour from dulling. Light iron on medium heat if needed. No dry cleaning necessary.
